The article, “An electoral intervention that has clicked” (Jan. 24), was heartening to read given the vehement pleas for a return to the paper ballot system. The Election Commission has been sincerely trying to improve the EVMs to avoid glitches and malfunctions. Political parties know the problems with the paper ballot system; that they continue to blame EVMs for their defeats and want to return to paper ballot indicates that they intend to play mischief to gain electoral victory.
