A hidden forest retreat: Inside couple's quirky modern day treehouse - complete with a giant sky light, an outdoor shower and lush bush surroundings
- From the outside this home is shrouded in a forest canopy and surrounded by open decking
- But on the inside it's a tranquil mixture of wooden floorboards and curved corrugated iron accents
- A bold bathroom, complete with an ocean blue coloured tile, is positioned near an open aspect of the house
- The three-bedroom and two-bathroom 'jungle' house is in the region of Indooroopilly, west of Brisbane's CBD
You'd be forgiven for missing this unique home entirely if you walked past it at night, particularly given the tranquil retreat is hidden away in a lush bushland reserve.
But it's well worth seeking out and stepping foot inside the property - which boasts a stunning, modern interior that completes its quirky exterior.
The three-bedroom and two-bathroom abode in the region of Indooroopilly, west of Brisbane, has been carefully crafted by owners Ian and Kylie Weir to resemble a calming retreat - complete with all the mod cons.

Mr Weir knew the original seller of the house, who was famed architect Brit Andresen, and was familiar with her use of 'expressed Australian hardwood timber and the poetics of timber construction'.
Homely touches, like Ms Andresen's inclusion of a pole in the kitchen to mark her son's height on, were kept in place when the Weir's moved in - and they hope the new tenants will do the same in the future, realestate.com.au reported.
But they did renovate other portions of the design to give it a more family-friendly feeling.

'We modernised it with new appliances, making it more liveable for families, and replaced the hardwoods like for like… as well as painting it,' Mr Weir told the publication.
But otherwise the juxtapositioning of vertical and horizontal timber lines - interspersed with corrugated iron - has been kept much the same.
A light natural wood gives each room a breathable ambience and the inclusion of so many windows makes great use of the natural light.

While it may have a slight 'jungle' vibe from the facade the new owners won't be living with the bare necessities by any means.

Meanwhile the kitchen is extremely spacious with plenty of room to prepare a feast or Christmas lunch.
It will be available at auction on Saturday, February 2, at 2pm.
