Sri Basavalinga Swami of Rudrakshi Mutt, inaugurated the camp by way of donating blood.

As many as 230 units of blood was collected during the two-day voluntary blood donation camp organised on Wednesday as part of the ongong Sri Gavisiddeshwar Jatra at Koppal.

The blood donation camp was organised by Sri Gavisiddeshwar Medical College and Hospital in association with Red Cross Society at Gavisiddeshwar Ayurveda College. The camp will conclude on Thursday evening.

Sri Basavalinga Swami of Rudrakshi Mutt, inaugurated the camp by way of donating blood. Heads of various religions mutts were present.

Capt. Gopinath, who was also the chief guest, Srinivas Hyati, Secretary Indian Red Cross, Somaraddi Alwandi, Dr. Gavi Patil, Dr. Manjunath Sajjan were among others present.

Meanwhile, a counter had been opened next to the Police Chowki for people to register their names to donate their eyes.

It may be mentioned here that Gavi Mutt, during its annual fair, has been focusing on some social issues and creating awareness among people in this regard.

This year the importance of donating eyes under the title ‘Kripa Drishti’ was organised.

A mega jatha was also taken out in the city in which a large number of students and people participated.

On Wednesday, 310 people had enrolled their names to donate eyes, according to a release.
