Odisha: Services of six trains passing ECoR extended to cover more stations

BHUBANESWAR: Indian Railways has extended services of four trains passing Bhubaneswar to cover more stations and provide additional connectivity between various places. These trains are Villupuram-Kharagpur Express, Puri-Barbil passenger, Cuttack-Berhampur MEMU train and Howrah-Vijayawada express train.
While Puri-Barbil passenger and Cuttack-Berhampur MEMU train originates from East Coast Railway (ECoR) zone, Villupuram-Kharagpur Express and Howrah-Vijayawada Humsafar express train pass major portions of the zone including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.
ECoR sources said Howrah-Vijayawada-Howrah Humsafar Express (20889/20890) will run up to Tirupati, Villupuram-Kharagpur-Villupuram Express (22604/22603) up to Purulia, Puri-Barbil-Puri Express (18415/18416) up to Rourkela and Cuttack-Berhampur-Cuttack Passenger (68433/68434) up to Ichhapuram.
Besides, the Railways will also extend Rourkela-Koraput-Rourkela Inter City Express (18107/18108) up to Jagadalpur and Visakhapatnam-Palasa-Visakhapatnam (58526/58525) passenger train up to Berhampur.
The ECoR plans to extend the services of Cuttack-Berhampur-Cuttack Passenger and Visakhapatnam-Palasa-Visakhapatnam Passenger with effect from January 26. However, date of extension of Rourkela-Koraput Express, Howrah-Vijayawada Humsafar Express, Villupuram-Kharagpur Express and Puri-Barbil Express will be notified in due course, said a spokesperson of the ECoR.
Railway minister Piyush Goyal has announced extension of services of 22 pair of trains running across Indian Railways including six pair of trains passing through or originating from the ECoR jurisdiction. Purpose of this extension is to provide additional connectivity between various places, official sources said.
ECoR sources said people were demanding for extension of services of these trains for better communication of the areas included in the extension services. It will also ease passenger loads on other trains, said a spokesperson of the zone.
