Bhopal: Faculty of universities including assistant professors, professors, readers, sports officers and librarians have decided to protest against the seventh pay commission order order released through the higher education department website on Monday.
Though the order was withdrawn within hours of its release but the teachers by then had downloaded the order and pointed out the discrepancies. The order that brought happiness among teachers in colleges became reason for protest for faculty members of universities. However by then, the teachers had downloaded the order and pointed out the discrepancies in the order.
University Teachers Association president, RK Mishra said that the orders issued by government is meant only for the teachers of the state run colleges and it has left the university staff in lurch. He said the government order merely mentions that universities can implement the seventh pay commission order on their own will- considering their financial assets and constraints. There are many other discrepancies, claimed Mishra.
An official requesting anonymity said that university teachers have been ignored in the said order and if the higher education department does not change it to include university teachers, we will take the protest route to seek our dues. However, officials of the higher education department said that they were reworking the order to include university staff but resources of the universities will remain a prime condition in the order.
