Siddaganga seer’s contribution to education, society is immense’

Hubballi: Condolences are pouring in to mourn the death of Siddaganga mutt seer Shivakumara Swamiji.
Addressing a condolence meet in Sha D J Chheda Industrial Training Institute, R T Tavanappanavar, treasurer, Sri Mahaveer Education Society, said the seer had the innocence of a child and had an intellectual mind. “His works provided a bright future to lakhs of poor and rural students in the state,” he added. Prof SK Adappanavar, principal S S Vandakudari, and others also spoke.
Members of Hubballi Autorickshaw Owners and Drivers Association paid respect to the portrait of the seer at Sangolli Rayanna Circle. Association president Shekharayya Mathapati said the seer had always tried to develop underprivileged communities.
At Moorusavir Mutt, former minister A M Hindasgeri, KLES director Shankranna Munavalli, NWKRTC former chairman Sadanand Danganavar and others recalled the great service rendered by the seer to the society. They also urged the state government to rename its mid-day meal scheme after him.
Residents of Sonia Gandhi Nagar observed a minute’s silence to offer respect to the seer. Social workers Manjula Doddamani, Yeshoda Mallari, Ramesh Dharwadkar, Siddappa Meesi and others spoke about him.
Addressing a programme at Rambhapuri Samudaya Bhavan, Kottur Basaveshwar Shivacharya Swamiji of Jukti Hiremath Sudi said Shivakumara Swamiji was a great saint who provided food, education and shelter to deprived children.
“He was a role model for yoga enthusiasts and proved that one can lead a long and healthy life by regularly practicing yoga and meditation,” he added.
Members of Karnataka State Backward Dalit Handicraft Labor Committee paid their respects to the portrait of the seer. Raghavendra Terdal, Vijay Suryavamshi, Vasu Hanjagi, Basuraj Betgeri and others spoke.
