That’s What Happens To A Bangle Butt BMW When You Watch Too Much Fast & Furious

While some would call the E60 BMW 5-Series awkward looking from certain angles, some could just as easily go the other way and say that at least it tried to differentiate itself from previous (stale) designs.

The reason for that is the so-called “flame surfacing” panel design and eyebrow-ed headlamps, among other styling cues, which add up for a more dramatic look than its predecessor, the stylish yet somewhat understated E39 5-Series.

Of course, there are plenty of arguments to be made against the E60 if you’re any type of BMW purist. For example, the brand’s trademark Hofmeister kink was softened, and it ditched the driver-oriented center console. But if you really want to lay into it, just take a look at this particular 5er, posted recently on a Reddis thread.

Not a fan of the Bangle Butt? What about when there’s a grotesque DTM-like wing on top of it? As far as we’re concerned, the M Sport decals are actually the least offensive mods performed here, the main one being the wing, followed closely by that improvised rear diffuser.

As for the wheels, they seem the stock kind on the base 528i, which would have been fine. Unfortunately, they were painted bright blue to match the custom wing and diffuser.

Is this the most embarrassing E60 BMW 5-Series you’ve ever seen, or should that award go to this 1999 E39 5er with an E60 conversion?
