12th India Rendezvous 2019:Confluence of over 700 (re)insurance professionals

The second day today of the 12th India Rendezvous - which is a confluence of over 700 re(insurance) professionals - will see some intensive brainstorming by industry stalwarts from India and across the globe on the disruptions that the industry is currently facing. GIC Re chairman-cum-managing director Mrs Alice G Vaidyan will set the ball rolling with her special welcome address.

SCOR Global P&C Reinsurance CEO Jean-Paul Conoscente in his industry keynote address, “Reinsurance: Disrupted?; Contested?; Well Positioned as Enabler of Solutions?” will dwell upon the global drivers that are generating significant changes with strong implications for the (re)insurance sector.

The keynote address will be delivered by The New India Assurance Company chairman-cum-managing director Mr Atul Sahai.

Technical presentations

Swiss Re India branch CEO Mr G Satish Raju will look at the role of government in public/private partnerships in enabling risk transfer.

The presentation on “Agriculture Insurance: A New Frontier for Global Re- Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana” by ACE Insurance Brokers director Anil Arora should evoke much interest as agriculture insurance is the current flavour of the season in India.

Panel discussions

Two panel discussions, ‘new reinsurance regulations in India’ and ‘CEOs’ perspective on insurance disrupted, what reinsurers can do to help’ should evoke some lively discussions.

Essay competition winners to be honoured

The winner and first runner up of the inaugural essay competition will also be honoured. The competition with the theme “Energise Insurance in India”, is co-organised by Asia Insurance Review and GIC Re.

Book launch

Today will see too the launch of Insure Edge principal officer P C James’ book on property insurance.

This year's 12th India Rendezvous, which ends tomorrow, kicked off with an opening cocktail reception on Tuesday evening that was virtually the ‘Mahakumbh’ (the holy confluence) of over 700 (re)insurance minds—a record turnout—that have gathered in Mumbai to attend the annual (re)insurance event.

Delegates registered early and commenced their networking sessions in the various meeting rooms spread across the iconic Taj Lands End Hotel that overlooks the Arabian Sea.
