Desperate hunt underway for woman accused of repeatedly stabbing a teenager in the back and stomach after asking to use her phone

  • A 19-year-old woman was stabbed in the stomach, back and arms by female
  • She was asked by the female to use her mobile before things turned violent 
  • The young woman was repeatedly stabbed and the attacker fled on foot 
  • She is currently awaiting surgery for her stab wounds at Westmead Hospital
  • Police believe stabbing is related to another stabbing which occurred on Jan 6 

A desperate hunt is underway for a young woman accused of stabbing a teenager repeatedly in the stomach and back after asking to use her phone. 

The 19-year-old was walking home after midnight on Wednesday along Cornelia Road, Toongabbie in Sydney's west when she was approached. 

The stranger, who intercepted her at the intersection of Cecilia Street, asked the woman if she could use her phone before things took a violent turn.

Police were told the woman threatened the teenager, demanding she hand over all of her personal belongings before she was stabbed multiple times in the stomach, back and arms. 

The attacker fled the scene on foot, while the victim was able to walk to her house nearby and call an ambulance.

She was taken to Westmead Hospital where she is awaiting surgery and remains in a serious but stable condition.

Police from the Blacktown Police Area Command have released CCTV footage of a woman they want to speak to in relation to the stabbing.

The woman is described as being of Pacific Islander or Asian appearance, with black hair parted down the middle, and wearing dark-coloured clothing.

Police believe the incident is related to a similar stabbing which occurred on January 6, when a 32-year-old woman was approached by a female on Union Street.

The woman was threatened before being stabbed in the arm.
