The State government is punishing the flood-affected people in the State, former Minister and Congress leader Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan has said.
He was inaugurating a siege of the Alappuzha collectorate organised by the United Democratic Front (UDF) on Wednesday in protest against the government's lackadaisical attitude in providing relief to the flood-hit.
“Soon after the flood devastation, the government has announced the Nava Kerala initiative for rebuilding the State. But it has failed to provide relief to the victims.
The government has collected ₹6,700 crore, but is not providing assistance to the victims. Now, the government is planning to introduce a 1% cess in the budget in the name of the deluge,” Mr. Radhakrishnan said. He said that Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was supporting P.K. Sasi, MLA, accused by a young woman leader of misbehaving with her.
