Man gets rigorous life term for raping minor girl

The Second Additional District and Special Sessions Court in Kalaburagi, on Friday, sentenced Aminsab Attar, 20, a resident of Sumbada village in Yadrami police station limits, to rigorous life imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹3.25 lakh on the charge of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl.

As per the court sources, the accused raped the girl at her residence on February 11, 2018 when she was alone. On February 26, 2018, he threatened the victim and took her to Bengaluru and then to Ajapanalli village in Kolar district where he again raped her for two days in his friend’s shop.

Following a complaint, a case was registered at Yadrami police station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. D.B. Patil, Circle Police Inspector of Jevargi Circle, had investigated the case and filed a chargesheet.

The accused was awarded rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh for committing the crimes specified under Section 376(2)(N) of IPC (punishment for rape) and Section 6 of POCSO Act, 10-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh for the crimes specified under IPC Section 366 (A) (procuration of minor girl), 10-year rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1 lakh for crimes specified under IPC Section 450 (house-trespass in order to commit offence punishable with imprisonment for life), 2 years rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹25,000 for crimes specified under IPC Section 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).

Compensation

Gopalappa S., judge, ordered the District Legal Services Authority to pay ₹5 lakh to the victim. The judge also directed the authorities to pay an additional ₹3 lakh from the fine collected from the accused.
