Punjab: Husband booked for assaulting, sodomizing wife

PATIALA: The police here have booked a middle-aged man for assaulting and sodomizing his wife. The case has been registered against the accused on the complaint of the 34-year-old woman who has been hospitalized after being physically and sexually abused by her husband.

In her statement to the police, the woman alleged that the accused used to force her for unnatural sex and on her refusal the accused would torture her physically. The police said that the accused identified as a resident of a village in Bhadson division was out of police reach but will be nabbed soon. The police added that the accused was a heavy drunkard and consumes liquor every day. The police claimed that after liquor consumption, the accused used to torture his wife and the matter had gone to village panchayat earlier where the couple used to get their matter sorted down.

The police revealed that the woman was married to the accused around fourteen years back and had two children out of their marriage. The complainant works as a housewife whereas her husband is a small farmer.

“The accused is a farmer and is habitual drinker beyond his capacity. After drinking, the accused allegedly used to abuse the complainant both sexually and physically. The couple has two minor children, including a daughter and a son. The woman has been hospitalized in civil hospital, Sangrur, under the care of her relatives. The complainant is under examination. However, doctors on condition of anonymity confirmed that the woman was sodomized and had sustained injuries on her private parts as well as other body parts. We are investigating the matter thoroughly and had formed the police teams to nab the accused as soon possible,” said the station house officer.
