HYDERABAD: A 45-year-old, who allegedly raped a 7-year-old girl from his neighbourhood, was arrested on Tuesday. The accused, a car driver from an area in Falaknuma, allegedly abused the victim for about a month before her parents came to know about it.
On January 20, Chatrinaka police received a complaint from the survivor’s mother, alleging that the accused had raped her seven-year-old daughter several times.
The driver’s wife deserted him five years ago and since then he was staying alone. According to police, a month ago he found the girl alone at home and lured her to an isolated place and violated her.
Subsequently, the accused sexually assaulted the girl several times when she was alone and the abuse came to light on January 19, when one of the family members of the victim saw him sexually assaulting the girl near their house. The accused fled from the spot and went absconding.
The family members initially did not approach police, but cops came to know about the incident from locals and convinced the girl’s family to lodge a complaint.
Acting on specific information, police arrested the accused from his house and sent him in judicial remand.
