Untangling tau: researchers find a 'druggable target' for treating Alzheimer's disease

(University of California - San Diego) Using induced pluripotent stem cell-derived neurons from Alzheimer's patients, UC San Diego researchers say cholesteryl esters -- the storage product for excess cholesterol within cells -- act as regulators of the protein tau, providing a new druggable target for the disease.
