Times News Network | Jan 22, 2019, 05:30 ISTMysuru: Less than 24 hours after a complaint was lodged about the theft of four cows in Vishweshwarnagar, which comes under the ambit of Vidranyapuram police station limits, Siddarthanagar traffic police on Monday arrested three individuals who were caught red-handed while trying to smuggle the cattle in a utility vehicle.
The owner of the cows, Mahadev, filed a complaint at the Vidranyapuram police station after his cattle, which he had tied to a pole on a vacant site on Friday night went missing. Mahadev searched for his cattle one entire day before losing any hope of finding them himself, and sought the assistance of cops. In his complaint, Mahadev stated that the cattle had been stolen between Friday midnight and 6am on Saturday morning, when he went to untie them.
On Monday morning, Siddarthanagara traffic police pulled a utility vehicle over near the traffic signal on T Narasipura Road. “When the driver refused to heed our orders, and tried to flee, we gave chase and were able to stop it. There were four people inside the van, of whom three fled and we were able to arrest one man. But, we later managed to catch two other thieves, but one of them is still absconding. We checked the vehicle, and found the four cows, which we later confirmed were the ones that Mahadev had lost,” a police officer said.
The three cattle thieves who have been nabbed are all residents of Shantinagar in the city – Ayub Pasha, 20; Sayyed Salman, 22 and 19-year-old Mohammed Sohail.
Cases booked against two B’luru thieves
Mandi police on Monday filed FIRs and booked cases against two thieves, who hail from Bengaluru, who were detained on Thursday on charges of being involved in two burglaries. Cops have seized Rs 2.32 lakh in cash from the duo.

Apart from cash, police have seized 85g of gold and more than 560g of silver from the duo.
