Andhra govt waives life tax on autos

VIJAYAWADA: The state cabinet meeting held here on Monday rolled out several benefits to people with focus on the farming sector.
Among the key decisions, the cabinet waived life tax on auto rickshaws and light goods vehicles and quarterly tax on tractors. The decision would benefit over 9.79 lakh vehicle owners in the state and would cost the state exchequer Rs 66.50 crore per year.
The cabinet has also decided to waive tax arrears for these vehicles.
There are 1.82 lakh tractors in the state that would get the tax waiver. In addition, the cabinet cleared a proposal to waive tax on 1.45 lakh tractor trailers amounting to Rs 11 crore.
The cabinet has also decided to give android phones to women members of self-help groups across the state. This would help take the government’s welfare programmes to people’s doorsteps and get their feedback.
