A few months after it broke cover in Los Angeles, the brand-new Porsche 911 was put through its paces, this time with a focus on its 0-124 mph (0-200 km/h) acceleration.

With the launch control engaged, the Carrera S passed the 62 mph (100 km/h) mark very fast and a few seconds later, the test concluded with a very impressive result – which we won’t spoil, but we will tell you this: it’s only about 1 second slower than the Lamborghini Huracan.

The new 911 Carrera S’ performance is even more impressive when taking into consideration that it’s less powerful than the Italian supercar. The new twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-pot pushes out 444 hp (450 PS / 331 kW), a 30 hp (30 PS / 22 kW) improvement over its predecessor, and officially goes from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 km/h) in just 3.7 seconds.

This is for the rear-wheel drive variant of the 911, as the all-wheel drive Carrera 4S is 0.1 seconds quicker, according to the Porsche. Fit either of the two with the optional Sport Chrono Package, however, and these times will drop by another 0.2 seconds. Top speed is 191 mph (307 km/h) for the S and 190 mph (306 km/h) for the 4S.

Now it’s time to see the times the 911 posted at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain. Dating two decades back, it’s 4 km (2.5 miles) long and has 14 turns. But you’re not going to see them, as you’ll be focused on the speedometer.
