Army orders probe in Punjab. Alarmed over yet another fake document scam unearthed in Ropar, the army was in the process of obtaining information and verifying the particulars of 26 such Haryana candidates, who reportedly joined Army after presenting themselves as domiciles of Punjab.Though fool proof measures were in place, this was the second such fake document scam of Army which came to the fore in the past two consecutive months in Punjab.On Saturday, the Ropar police arrested five men for running a fake document scam, where Haryana youth produced fake domicile documents to join army from Punjab.

In December last year too, 25 Haryana youth were arrested in army recruitment rally in Jalandhar Cantonment after they produced fake documents to get selected from Punjab.Talking to Daily Post, Brigadier Jagdeep Dahiya, the Deputy Director General (DDG) Recruitment (Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir) said that he has requested SSP Ropar Swapan Sharma to share complete information for further action. “It was being claimed by the accused men that they got 26 Haryana youth recruited in the Army but we are verifying this information”, he said.

The DDG said that no Court of Inquiry (CoI) was ordered by the army in this case, as prima facie no involvement of any army personnel was found. “Army has zero tolerance towards fake recruitment and we conduct the army recruitment rallies in transparent manner. Even in Jalandhar Cantonment, 25 Haryana youth were arrested with fake documents and they were handed over to the police and investigation was on in this case too.”Brig Dahiya appealed to all the candidates and their parents to not to fall prey to such touts, as recruitment in army was totally merit based with zero tolerance towards extraneous influence.
