British billionaire Dyson moves vacuum giant to Singapore

The maker of the revolutionary vacuum, Dyson, has confirmed it is moving its corporate headquarters and tax registration from the UK to Singapore.

Founder of the company and Brexit supporter, James Dyson, said the decision was not motivated by Britain's impending exit from the EU, nor UK tax implications but to be closer to its fastest growing markets.

Dyson previously reported its annual profit had broken through the £1 billion, or $1.3 billion, barrier for the first time in 2018.

That was driven by strong demand in China and other Asian countries.

Dyson already manufactures products in Asia where it says it has the biggest demand for air purifiers, hairdryers, and cleaners.

The company is also building its new electric car in Singapore.

Where it has nearly 6,000 scientists and engineers working on it and other products.

However, much of Dyson's product development will stay in the southwest of England.

The firm's Chief Executive Jim Rowan said the company was still expanding its research and engineering operation in Britain.

And that there would be a "negligible difference" to the company's tax payments as a result.
