Due to the attempted hijacking the Aeroflot flight from Surgut in western Siberia diverted after as the unnamed man ordered a landing in Afghanistan.
Around150 miles west of the departure city 737 jet landed in Khanty-Mansiysk but was still in Russia.
At the airport the suspect said to be drunk was detained, no one got injured but the police cordoned off the area and the ambulance was put on standby.
The airline stated that Aeroflot’s security and technical services were in a state of heightened vigilance. Due to this the passengers on other flights should remain careful and some delays can be expected during boarding.
A reserve aircraft to Khanty-Mansiysk was dispatched by Aeroflot to that the passengers can continue their journey to Moscow.
To ensure the safety of passengers Aeroflot employees undergo thorough training to response to such incidents.
Andrei Przhezdomsky, spokesman for Russia’s National Anti-terrorist Committee said that as per the reports a plane flying from Surgut to Moscow changed its course at the demand of one of the passengers.
