A Taiwanese woman, known for climbing mountains wearing a bikini, was found frozen to death in a national park.

Gigi Wu (36) was eight days into a 25-day solo hike when she phoned a friend to say she'd fallen down a ravine in central Taiwan's Yushan Mountain, Taiwan News reports.

Gigi was unable to move because of a leg injury.

Rescue workers scrambled to save her, but were only able to airlift her out 28 hours later due to poor weather conditions, the Daily Mail reports.

By then the young woman was frozen to death, according to local officials.

The overnight temperature at the place where she fell at an altitude of over 1 670m was around freezing, said Commander Lin Cheng-I of the Nantou County Fire Department.

Gigi, whose real name is Wu Chi-Yun, was a popular social media star who'd often pose on Taiwan's highest mountain peaks in bikinis, News.com reports.

After the news of her death broke, followers took to her social media pages to express their condolences.

"Thank you for bringing us countless beautiful scenery. Blessings to your soul," one follower wrote.

“In the eyes of people who like climbing you’re a standard, professional climber, admirable! Be an angel in your favourite mountain forest,” another follower commented.
