Lamborghini Urus Raises The Bar For What A Super SUV Can Do

We live in a world where you can have a Lamborghini that easily fits a family and their stuff and can still make its driver happy on more terrains than just tarmac. A few years back that would seem absurd. Not anymore.

The striking design is seen as controversial but, judging by the surprising demand, Lamborghini has definitely a winner in its hands. Whether you like the Urus or not, currently there’s a 12-month waiting list, which means that there are more than enough takers out there.

The key numbers are 641hp (650PS) and 627lb-ft (850Nm) courtesy of its twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine, 0-62mph (100km/h) in 3.6 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph (305km/h). Pretty alarming numbers for such a big SUV, but then again, it’s a Lamborghini SUV.

You would think then that the Urus would tremble at the sight of anything but tarmac. And you would be wrong, as Lamborghini is keen on customers taking their ‘super-SUV’ off-road as well. It won’t scare a Jeep Wrangler, but it will go further than most of its owners will dare to take it.

As demonstrated by Harry Metcalfe, the Lamborghini Urus has a rather surprising depth in its character, offering multiple driving modes for different terrains and an angry V8 always ready to flood your ears with the right music – and push your back to the seat.

Combine its impressive dynamic abilities with a very nice ride quality in Strada mode, due to its cutting edge air-suspension, and it’s no wonder why the Urus is declared the new dynamic benchmark in the top-tier performance SUV segment.
