Uri The Surgical Strike box office collection Day 11: 5 records smashed by Vicky Kaushal's film

Uri: The Surgical Strike, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari in pivotal roles, is enjoying a fantastic run at the domestic as well as overseas box office.

Vicky Kaushal in Uri: The Surgical Strike

Aditya Dhar's war drama Uri: The Surgical Strike, is still running to packed theatres, even in its second week. On its second Monday, it earned Rs 6.80 crore, taking its total collection so far to Rs 115.87 crore.

Featuring Vicky Kaushal, Yami Gautam, Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal and Kirti Kulhari in key roles, Uri: The Surgical Strike is not only dominating the domestic box office but also the overseas market. On foreign shores, the film crossed the $3-million mark in its second weekend.

Uri: The Surgical Strike is based on the surgical strike carried out by the Indian Army on seven terrorist launchpads across the Line of Control on September 29, 2016, in retaliation to a terrorist attack on an army camp at Uri earlier that month.

Here are five box office records broken by Uri: The Surgical Strike:

SECOND WEEKEND COLLECTION HIGHER THAN FIRST WEEKEND

With an opening weekend collection of Rs 35.92 crore, Uri: The Surgical Strike took everyone by surprise. However, the film has only gone from strength to strength at the box office. In fact, its second weekend collection - Rs 37.75 crore - was higher than its first weekend. This feat could not be achieved even by blockbusters like Dangal and Baahubali.

ENTERED RS 100-CRORE CLUB IN 10 DAYS

Uri: The Surgical Strike entered the coveted Rs 100-crore club within just 10 days of its release. With this, it achieved the milestone faster than other medium-budget films like Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Stree, Raazi, Badhaai Ho and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.

VICKY KAUSHAL'S FIRST SOLO RS 100-CRORE HIT

With back-to-back successes, Vicky has emerged as one of the most bankable actors in Bollywood. However, Uri: The Surgical Strike is his first solo film to cross the Rs 100-crore mark at the box office.

YAMI GAUTAM'S HIGHEST-GROSSING FILM

At Rs 115.87 crore, Uri: The Surgical Strike has beaten Sanjay Gupta's Kaabil to become Yami's highest-grossing film. Talking about the success of the film, she said, "Very happy with the kind of response that the film has earned and is continuing to have a great run at the box office. I'm very grateful to the team behind the film, everyone has truly worked very hard."

"It's amazing to have producers like Ronnie Screwvala who believe in their content and invest in people like us. I'm personally excited to have such a tremendous beginning to 2019 and I am certain to keep the audiences entertained further too," the actress added.

FIRST BLOCKBUSTER OF 2019

Uri: The Surgical Strike, which is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office, has gone on to become the first blockbuster of the year, demolishing competitors such as Vijay Ratnakar Gutte's The Accidental Prime Minister and Soumik Sen's Why Cheat India.
