VARANASI: Chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday invited non-resident Indians (NRIs) to invest in UP, saying the state has become the best investment destination in the country within a short span of time.
“ Aaj UP Bharat mein nivesh ka sabse achha destination hai. Nivesh ka anukool vatavaran banana ke liye humari team ne kafi kaam kiya hai (Today, UP is the best destination for investment in India. Our team has worked tirelessly to create a conducive atmosphere for investment), said Yogi at the inaugural function of UP Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas (PBD) at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Centre in the city.
Inviting NRIs to invest in UP, Yogi assured them all facilities and support for launching ventures in the state.
“We have not only been able to change the old perception about UP, but have also tried to make it the growth engine of the country within a short time. I’m happy to say that the state is expected to record Rs 2 lakh crore investment by March, when the government completes two years in power,” said Yogi adding that pro-investor policies of the government have made it a preferred destination for investors.
UP has great potential in every field with excellent road, rail and air connectivity, said Yogi. “Earlier there were only three airports, but today the state has six airports and nine new ones are coming up. Besides, two new international airports are also being developed,” he added.
Yogi said UP has become the first state to have a multi-model terminal in Varanasi for inland waterways.
“The state is rich in water resources, leads in food production and has a huge potential of investment in promotion of traditional goods under the One District One Production (ODOP) scheme,” Yogi said and called upon the NRIs from UP to explore the possibility of investment in this sector.
Yogi said , “The state contributed tremendously in Swachh Bharat campaign by constructing 2.60 crore toilets for families. Besides, 18 lakh poor families were given houses and projects of 15 new medical colleges were started. The government also provided employment opportunities to 1.25 lakh youths, apart from skill development training to six lakh youths and benefiting 57,000 under ODOP scheme.”
The function was also addressed by UP ministers Swati Singh and Satish Mahana, MP of European Parliament Neena Gill, Fijian minister Mahendra Reddy and UAE-based businessman BR Shetty.
The inaugural function, organised in conjunction with the three-day 15th edition of Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas Convention, was held just after Youth PBD at the same venue.
