Cheating case transferred to Vasco police

The Economic Offences Cell Panaji has transferred a case of cheating to the Vasco police for further investigation.

As per available information, Anant Toraskar, an ex-employee of Goa Shipyard Ltd and his wife Pushpa Toraskar, duo residents of New-Vaddem have lodged their complaint with the Economic Offences Cell Panaji, stating that Subhash Chandra Desai besides three other accomplices of the alleged accused allegedly cheated them to the tune of Rs 29 lakh upon a pretext of getting benefit in the DVA case filed by their daughter, besides they were also assured of a government job for their daughter. The complaint further stated that the accused persons have assured the complainants to get a Portuguese passport for their daughter and also for their grand children, but they failed to do so and have cheated them of Rs 29 lakh. As the complaint does not reveal the involvement of cheating by NBFC, the Economic Offences Cell Panaji has therefore decided to transfer the case to the Vasco police station, requesting to initiate necessary action against the accused persons. “The complaint is self explanatory”, said police inspector Economic Offences Cell Panaji while transferring the case.

When contacted the Vasco PI Nolasco Raposo disclosed that the case is under investigation and he can reveal the same only after going through details from the transfer of complaint. NT
