James May Buys The Best Car He Drove In 2018, Reveals He’d Consider New Supra – And More

Grand Tour co-host James May was so impressed by the new Alpine A110 that he actually bought one. In an interview with DriveTribe, ‘Captain Slow’ justified it by proclaiming the French berlinette the best car he drove last year.

He also talked about the new Toyota Supra, expressing interest in it despite the fact he didn’t own any Japanese cars over the years, except for an old Daihatsu. However, the reborn Supra could be on his list. That, or the Nissan GT-R anyway.

So, what do you think May’s favorite ‘normal’ car on sale today is? It’s something from another Japanese brand: the Suzuki Swift. Apparently, he likes this small hatchback more than all of its rivals, and the list is anything but short: Volkswagen Polo, Ford Fiesta, Renault Clio, Opel/Vauxhall Corsa, Peugeot 208 and so on and so forth.

His favorite motoring journalist? Why, that would be James May, of course. But right after that comes Chris Harris and not one of his GT co-hosts.

The 56-year old thought about what car he would drive for the rest of his life, if he only had one to choose. And that’s a very difficult question indeed. So, would he follow the trend and buy an SUV, or would he rather opt for something different? As it turns out, he’d choose the… well, the answer lies on the video right below.
