Edward VII was crowned King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland, King of the Dominions of the British Empire and the Emperor of India on January 22, 1901. He reigned till his death on May 6, 1910. Edward VII was born on November 9, 1841 to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was the first British monarch of the House of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. He was succeeded by his eldest surviving son, who came to be known as George V.
