Woman dies after police open fire with non-lethal rounds when she and her husband refused to leave their home so it could be repossessed 'over $1million debts'

A woman caught up in a five-hour siege at a rural property has died in hospital after it ended with police firing a non-lethal round.
Western Australian Police were called to the Martin home, south east of Perth, on Monday after reports a couple were blocking authorities from conducting an eviction.
The sheriff's office sent officers to the property on Douglas Road to repossess it from Rodney and Janice Croft, who allegedly refused to vacate the house, 9 News reported.

The siege ended at 3pm on Monday when police fired a non-lethal round. Mrs Croft went into cardiac arrest and was rushed to the nearby Royal Perth Hospital where she later died
Police officers were then called to the home at 9am and a five-hour siege ensued.
Officers are reported to have fired a single non-lethal round as the siege came to its end and both Mr and Mrs Croft were arrested.
Mrs Croft went into cardiac arrest shortly afterwards and was she was taken Royal Perth Hospital, where she died.
It is not known if Mrs Croft if the non-lethal round hit the woman and caused her to go into cardiac arrest.

Meanwhile Mr Croft, a former deputy mayor of Gosnells, remains in police custody.
The reason behind the eviction remains unclear, however 9 News reported that the pair may have been almost $1million in debt.
A Western Australian police spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia they weren't treating the death as suspicious and a report was being drafted for the coroner.
