Airport to be partially closed between February 14 and 24

Flight operations at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) will be partially disrupted in view of Aero India 2019 that is scheduled on February 20-24 at the Yelahanka Air Force Station.

Airspace closure will cause disruption in flight operations from February 14 to 24, a release from the BIAL said.

The release said to ensure safety and pave the way for the success of the event, the airport will be partially closed for commercial flight operations during the days of practice and on the days of the main show.

Between February 14 to 17, the airport will be closed between 1.30 p.m. and 4.30 p.m.; from February 18 to 19, operations will be stopped between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

On February 20, on account of the inauguration of the event and scheduled air displays, the KIA will not function between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Between February 21 and 24, the airport will be closed to between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

“Passenger convenience will be ensured with the airlines sharing timely communication on the change in airport operations and the cancelled / revised flight timings during the aero show,” the release added.

Apart from inconvenience due to changes in flight schedules, air passengers will also have to put up with traffic congestion on the National Highway leading to the airport.
