UPSC Civil Service exam on June 2, notification to be released in February

NEW DELHI: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct the Civil Services Exam (preliminary) on June 2, 2019.
The UPSC will release the detailed notification in this regard in February 2019.
After the implementation of 10% quota for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) in the government jobs and institutions, this will be the first direct recruitment exam. The UPSC hold the Civil Services examination every year, which sees a massive participation.
The UPSC conducts the Civil Services Exam in two stages - Preliminary (objective-type paper) and Mains (descriptive paper and interview). The Civil Services Preliminary exam is conducted to select candidates for Mains exam. The candidates who clear the UPSC Civil Services Mains exam are inducted in different central government departments as civil servants. More than 10 lakh candidates register for the examination every year.
President Ram Nath Kovind on January 13, 2019 had given his assent to the constitutional provision to provide 10-per cent reservation in government jobs and education to economically backward section in the general category. The bill was passed by Parliament on January 9.
"This is a revolutionary decision to deliver economic justice. This is a decision of social justice and my preparation has started. In June, when institutions opens (for next session), thousands of seats will be there under ten per cent reservation in institutions like IIT, IIIT, NIT, central universities and others," Javadekar had said at a function.
He said that no one's reservation was abolished and additional 10 per cent reservation was given to economically backward sections of general category.
