Karti to SC: Need to travel abroad for tennis events
TNN | Jan 22, 2019, 04:43 ISTNEW DELHI: Former finance minister P Chidambaram's son Karti, an accused in the alleged money laundering case relating to INX Media, has moved the SC seeking permission to go to Europe to finalise organisational and logistical arrangements for forthcoming ATP and WTA tennis tournaments.
A bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Sanjiv Khanna adjourned hearing on Karti's plea to January 28 after solicitor general Tushar Mehta, appearing for ED, sought time to file response to the application.
Karti said he would be required to travel to France, Spain, Germany and UK in connection with various tennis tournaments organised by Totus Tennis Ltd, a subsidiary of Chess Global Advisory Services Pvt Ltd, of which Karti "is main shareholder, director".
