Indore: Additional chief secretary of medical education department Ragheshyam Julania on Sunday said the work to set up long awaited virology laboratory in Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College will begin soon. Addressing mediapersons after review meeting in MGM Medical College, he said city will soon get virology laboratory as health minister has sanctioned it. “PWD has been asked to start work. Its tenders have been floated,” he said. The lab will have the facility to conduct swine flu tests and new place has been finalised for the construction.
Julania also reviewed colleges’ pending work and decided to start renovation of operation theatres of Maharaja Yeshwantrao Hospital with Rs 5.70 crore. Tubectomy OT and burn units will be renovated first so that surgeries don’t get affected. Julania said, “Decision for renovation of 200-seater auditorium for students has also been taken and it will renovated with Rs 2.5 crore. Decisions like constructing staff quarter for super speciality centre have also been taken.”
