Skoda will unveil its third and smallest SUV in its Europe lineup at the Geneva auto show in March.
The car combines the advantage of a raised SUV with the agility of a car, Skoda said in a statement. It also promised new safety assistance systems and a spacious interior.
Skoda expects the model will become its second best-selling SUV after the Karoq compact.
The brand did not disclose the production name of the car. It was previewed by the Vision X concept at last year's Geneva show.
A teaser shot and video of the new model shows the high-mounted LED driving lights with the integrated 'dynamic indicators' more associated with Audi that flash in the direction of intended travel.
The SUV will be built on parent Volkswagen Group's MQB platform and compete against the Seat Arona and VW T-Roc in the group.
The growing small SUV market is led by the Renault Captur in Europe.
Skoda's relatively young SUV lineup pushed the brand to record sales in 2018 totaling 1.25 million vehicles, up 4.4 percent on the year before. The Kodiaq midsize SUV, the Karoq and the new China-only Kamiq small SUV were the only Skoda models showing growth over the year, along with the Citigo minicar.
The Kodiaq is now Skoda's fourth best-selling model after the Octavia, Rapid and Fabia cars. The Karoq was sixth in its launch year.
Skoda is replacing the Rapid compact in Europe this year with the Scala, which is built on the cheaper PQ platform, covering the small SUV market in China for the brand. China is Skoda’s biggest single market, with 341,000 vehicles sold in 2018, up 4.9 percent on the year before.
