Book fair to begin from Jan 24
TNN | Jan 22, 2019, 04:00 ISTSurat: Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will be holding its annual book fair at Athwagate in the city from January 24 to 28. It will be inaugurated by Gujarati Sahitya Parishad president Sitanshu Yashaschandra.
Seventy-eight book publishers of different languages from across the country, including Mumbai, Delhi and Kanpur are expected to take part in the 18th edition of the book fair being organized by the civic body. Over two lakh books on different subjects and languages will be on display for sale. The venue will also host a horticulture show during the period. Around 30 nurseries and horticulture establishments will be participating in the 16th horticulture and herbal fair.
“Over five lakh people are expected to attend the fair. The fair will occupy an area of 4 lakh square feet of Vanita Vishram ground. A number of cultural events and contests for children will also be held at the venue,” said an officer of SMC.
