Ireland man injects himself with own semen to get rid of back pain; hospitalised
Dublin, Jan 21: Using home-made remedies to cure ailments is nothing new. They often prove to be effective more than the doctor's prescription. But here is a man who did something bizarre to cure his own back pain and eventually landed in the hospital.

The 33-year-old resident from Dublin, Ireland, repeatedly injected himself with his own semen to get rid of a chronic back pain. The result was the opposite forcing the man to rush to the doctor seeking relief, Huffingtonpost reported.
His act made the man an overnight sensation and also a case study in Irish Medical Journal. The study is titled: "'Semenly' Harmless Back Pain: An Unusual Presentation of a Subcutaneous Abscess."
"This is the first reported case of semen injection for use as a medical treatment," doctors in the Irish capital wrote in the case study.
The bizarre act was revealed when the doctors examined the man and saw his right arm to have swollen. When he was asked about it, he told the doctors what he had done with his own semen and he did that irrespective of any medical advice.
The man bought hypodermic syringe online and injected himself once a month for a period of a year and half. He did this after hurting his lower back while handling a heavy object.
X-ray report showed air getting trapped beneath the man's skin and he was immediately hospitalised, according to the study. He was treated with intravenous antimicrobial therapy and his pain subsequently subsided and he was released without having the affected area drained.
