According to Kilimanoor block panchayat president Sreeja Shaijudev, the objective behind this initiative is to reintroduce the ancient system of herbal medicine and spread awareness among people about the significance of these plants.
“There was a time when all these plants were found on our house premises and the whole family, including children, were aware of the uses. But, now the people are ignorant about it and the plants have disappeared from our backyards. Our plan is to protect and preserve the plants for the next generation,” said Sreeja.
“ We have made use of the 1.5-acre compound of block panchayat, agriculture director’s office ground and grounds of selected schools,” she added. tnn
