JIND: With barely to go for the Jind bypoll on January 28, Kandela khap chief Tek Ram Kandela extended his support to BJP candidate Krishan Midha on Sunday. He reached Jind along with his supporters and addressed a joint press conference along with BJP state president Subhash Barala.
Tek Ram said that never sought ticket and his supporters have been demanding to contest the election.
Claiming that chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Barala had assured him of development works and raising the issue of farmers, he announced that he “will never contest any election from any political party in the future” as none gave him a ticket despite his attempts. He claimed that now he had no issue with the BJP.
Barala said the BJP considered him as a member of their family and that all issues had been resloved with Kandela. He added that HSSC results would surley impact the bypoll scenario as the party has given jobs on merit and maintained transparency.
Kandela khap is particularly important in the area as it has 25 villages in the constituency with around 40,000 votes. Kandela had contested the last assembly election and polled 11,223 votes. Since Tek Ram is a jat, BJP wants to give out a message that it has the support of the community.
