A new report about the wealthiest people in the world found 26 people own the same wealth as the poorest half of the world.
??The numbers were put together by a charity called Oxfam...it revealed that billionaire fortunes rose by $2.5 billion per day in 2018.
??While, at the same time, the poorest half of the world saw their wealth decrease by 11 percent.
??Oxfam is calling on governments around the world to fix the problem by increasing taxes for corporations and the world’s richest people.
??The report is looking to add a half percent to the taxes of the richest 1 percent…??It argues that money could educate 262 million children and provide health care to millions.
??The executive director of the charity said in a press release quote, “Governments must now deliver real change by ensuring corporations and wealthy individuals pay their fair share of tax and investing this money in free healthcare and education that meets the needs of everyone - including women and girls whose needs are so often overlooked.” ??Just as an example, according to Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, the world’s richest man saw his fortune increase to $140 billion.
