GREATER NOIDA: A 26-year-old woman was found dead and her family alleged she was killed over dowry by her husband and parents in-law. The family said her in-laws later dumped the body on a footpath near Itehra chowk in Bisrakh on Sunday night. The in-laws have been booked and the husband detained for questioning.
The deceased, Bharti Yadav, was a resident of Sarfabad village in Sector 73. She was married to one Ravindra Yadav in 2013 and the couple have two kids.
Bharti’s brother Rahul said her in-laws harassed her over dowry.“We gave them Rs 5 lakh once but they did not stop and demanded more cash along with a flat and a big car for their family. When she could not fulfil their demands, they killed her,” he added.
Bharti’s husband and parents in-law have been booked under IPC sections 498 A (husband or relative of husband subjecting woman to cruelty) and 304 B (death caused due to injury within seven years of woman’s marriage), and also under sections 3 and 4 of the Dowry Act. “The body was sent for an autopsy. Ravindra has been detained for questioning,” said SHO, Bisrakh police station Anil Kumar Shai.
