What a treat for heritage walk enthusiasts!

Vadodara: The first ever heritage walk dedicated exclusively to M S University’s Faculty of Performing Arts turned into a treat for heritage enthusiasts on Sunday morning as the faculty otherwise popularly known as music college came to life with dance, drama and music.
Thanks to the live performances, most of them staged by students, the faculty adorned a festive mood even as nearly 250-odd participants thronged the faculty premises located near Sursagar lake in the heart of old city.

The heritage walk was organised by the faculty officials under the ‘Explore MSU: Route to our Roots’ series – initiated by MSU’s Office of Alumni Affairs.

Teachers of the faculty not only explained the historical and architectural aspects of the heritage building but also guided the participants to little known aspects.


For the first timers, the walk provided an unique opportunity to enjoy live performances of kathak, tabla, sitar, violin, vocal music also enjoy a small play – coordinated by the departments of dance, vocal music, instrumental music, tabla and dramatics.


Also, they were guided through a tour covering open air theatre, tabla exhibition, library, instruments museum, wardrobe, recording room and the iconic playbox.


For many, it was for the first time that they saw musical instruments including tabla, sambla, pakhawaj, rudra veena, mayur veena, sarinda, tanjor veena, kinnari veena and rabab.
