PATNA: A 17-year-old boy from Nalanda allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from a ceiling fan in his room at a private hostel at Mainpura under the Pataliputra police station here on Sunday. The deceased was identified as Rishu, who was preparing for competitive examinations.
Police said no suicide note was found in the room from where the boy’s body was recovered around 10am. “The matter came to light when the boy’s hostel mates knocked his doors to wake him up. “The room was locked from inside. After their several knocks went unanswered, the students took help of the locals to break open the door. They, however, found Rishu hanging from the ceiling fan,” SHO of Pataliputra police station T N Tiwari said.
Tiwari added the body of the boy was sent for post mortem to Patna Medical College and Hospital. “Rishu, a Class XI student, was a resident of Katrisarai in Nalanda. His parents reached here after getting information about the incident. They are, however, not in a position to record their statements,” the SHO added.
