LUCKNOW: A video showing a wailing woman with folded hands requesting an inspector to lodge an FIR and even touching his feet while seeking justice for her dead son went viral on social media on Saturday, following which the police officer, SHO Gudamba Tej Prakash Singh was sent to the lines.

SSP Lucknow Kalanidhi Naithani took cognizance of the video and SHO Singh was sent to lines. “Though the SHO later lodged an FIR on charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder against the owners of the plywood factory, action was taken because he did not give due respect to the woman complainant. IPS officer Abhiskek Verma will conduct a probe,” the SSP said.

The SSP said that irresponsible and insensitive behaviour by policemen would not be tolerated at all.

On Friday, a 19-year-old youth, Akash Yadav, alias Rinku, a resident of Bakshi Ka Talab, employed at a plywood factory was crushed to death after getting entangled in the wood drying machine. Akash’s grieving mother wanted to lodge an FIR against the factory owner.

She went to Gudamba police station to lodge complaint but the SHO did not pay heed. In the video, she is seen crying, pleading with folded hands and touching his feet.
