NOIDA: The Noida Authority has floated a tender to develop a 5.5-km-long elevated road from Aghapur petrol pump in Sector 41 to Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) on Dadri-Surajpur-Chhalera (DSC) road.

Once developed, the six-lane elevated road will unclog major traffic in Noida industrial area, NSEZ, Barola, Bhangel, Salarpur, etc. and also facilitate commuting between Noida and Greater Noida.

The DSC road connects Noida to Greater Noida’s Surajpur area and leads to Dadri. This is one of the major roads connecting the twin cities, but during peak morning and evening hours, it witnesses heavy traffic jam.

Around 1,000 industries are set up in Phase 2 and NSEZ which employ over one lakh people. They commute on a daily basis from their offices to Noida, Greater Noida and Delhi via DSC road and have to bear with the heavy traffic jam. The elevated road is expected to bring relief to these commuters.

Rajeev Tyagi, general manager of Noida Authority said, “The vehicles stuck in the jam add to air pollution. So, we have decided to develop an elevated road on the DSC road which will facilitate commuters with a hassle-free traffic movement in the area.”

There will also be some slip roads to connect the traffic from adjacent sectors and industrial area on both the sides. The cost of the project is Rs 460 crore and it is expected to be completed in three years.

The Noida Authority had proposed this elevated road eight years ago, but the project could not take off.

Vipin Malhan, the president of Noida Entrepreneurship Association said, “The Authority had planned an elevated road at this site several years ago. We do not know why it took so much time. However, we welcome the move as it will help the businessmen and local people in smooth commuting.”

The Authority will also widen the existing two-lane road to three-lane road on both the sides for smooth movement of local traffic on the DSC road.
