Readers of any age that have read the book are welcome to join in the discussion; refreshments will be served. Ms. Rausch will lead this workshop once a month, on the fourth Monday of the month, through April. Registration is required for this workshop as well, contact the library to secure your spot for one or more sessions in this ongoing class.

SWANSEA

Simply Done, the Swansea Recipe/Coupon club is looking for new members. Meetings are held each Monday in the Reference Room from 2 - 3:30 p.m. Members will swap recipes, cut coupons, find ways to save money, share cookbooks and cooking ideas, talk about food and bring in food samples.

Monday, Jan. 28 is Soup Day. and Simply Done is sponsoring a taste testing. Sign up today and try three different soups. Also bring your soup recipes and participate in a recipe swap. Seating is limited so sign up today. Soup is a great meal in the winter. Cost is $5 per person.

Puzzle Day, Tuesday Jan. 29, 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.: Join us for a free fun filled day of puzzles. Drop in and make a jigsaw puzzle. Or try your hand at Sudoku, mazes, word jumbles, crosswords, word searches and more! Stop by the library and spend a quiet winter day with puzzles.

Puzzle Swap- Bring your used puzzles to the library and swap for a new one. Drop off used puzzles during normal Library hours. Tuesday, Jan. 29 is puzzle swap at the library.

Crafternoons- Wednesday is craft day at the library from 12-2 p.m. in the Reference Room. The 1st Wednesday of the month is card making with Jean Codega. Join the master paper crafter for a fun day of crafts, cards and coffee. On Jan. 23, needle crafters of all kinds are invited to the library for an afternoon of needlepoint, cross stitch, embroidery, rug hooking and any kind of needle or textile craft. And, on Jan. 30, Maureen Pacheco returns with a jewelry making workshop. Cost is $10 for all materials to make a beautiful necklace, register at 508-674-9609

German Language Classes: Christel Amaral will once again be offering German language classes at the library. Interested in learning conversational German, German culture and history? Book Clubs

YA for Grown Ups meets the 4th Thursday of each month at 6 p.m. Our reading list includes classics, nearly forgotten favorites, and the best of the new YA offerings. This month’s selection is A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness.

The Brown Bag Book Club meets the third Friday of each month from 12-2 p.m. in the Reference Room at the Swansea Free Public Library. New members are encouraged to join this group of fiction readers. Bring your lunch and eat, read and talk. This month’s selection is Her secret : the Amish of Hart County by Shelley Shepard Gray.

The Past Times Historical Fiction Book club meets the first Wednesday of each month from 7-8 p.m. at the Swansea Free Public Library. Join us as we read great books of historical fiction by writers such as Tracy Chevalier, Sharon Kay Penman, Diana Gabaldon, Sarah Dunant and Hilary Mantel. Step back in time with a good book. Facilitated by Maureen Pacheco, new members are always welcome. This month’s selection is "The Other Boleyn Girl" by Philippa Gregory.

The morning will begin with a short book and group activity, followed by time to play with our new friends.  Limit: 18 toddlers per session. Registration is not required. A Lap-Sit Story Program for little tots under three who love books will begin on Wednesday, Jan. 23 at 10 a.m. The program will consist of music, finger-plays, a brief story, puppets, rhythm instruments, and nursery rhymes. This program is suitable for a caregiver and child to participate together. Following the story period, toys are provided for children to stay and play! Registration is necessary for this program.
