A few weeks ago, the sports quiz Y Ras crowned Wales’s most knowledgable sports fan - now it’s time to find out who is the celebrity with the best sporting knowledge.
Who could it be? You’ll have to watch Y Ras - Y Selebs to find out.
After two semi-final rounds - the presenter Ifan Jones Evans, the stand up comedian and film guru Gary Slaymaker and the two former international footballers Gwennan Harries and Owain Tudur Jones have reached the final of Y Ras - Y Selebs on S4C, Friday, January 23 at 9.30pm.
And as usual, keeping everyone in order and setting the challenges will be the experienced sport presenter Gareth Roberts.
“They were very competitive - they all knew their stuff. Each individual contestant has to choose a specialist subject for the ‘Arbenigo’ round and it was obvious that they had done their homework,” said Gareth.
“Maybe in the semis they gave the impression that it was the taking part that counted but by the final, they were there to win.”
Gareth Roberts is used to interpreting what is going on on the field to thousands of rugby fans. So what were his impressions of the attitude and performance of the celebs.
“The two footballers - Gwenan and OTJ - had psyched themselves up. Both were determined to beat the other,” said Gareth.
“Ifan Jones Evans needs to listen to the question - he kept trying to answer before hearing the question in full. Gary Slaymaker was the ‘dark horse’ - he really knew his stuff on WWF (World Wrestling Federation).
Despite the keen competition Gareth said that everybody had a lot of fun making the programme.
“It was a little bit different than the series with the sports fans perhaps, but the celebs took the competition just as seriously although they were very friendly with each other in the green room before the quiz.”

IFAN JONES EVANS:
Position : Radio and television presenter, farmer. From Pont-rhyd-y-groes, Ceredigion.
Specialist skill : Plays for his local team in Pontrhydfendigaid and follows Manchester United.
Ifan said : “I’m back again to compete for the main prize - and this time I’m here to win.”
GARY SLAYMAKER:
Position : Film critic, novelist, television presenter, comedian. Originally from Cwmann, near Lampeter, now lives in Cardiff.
Specialist skill : Follows football (supports Cardiff City FC), boxing and wrestling.
Gary said : “My tactic for the semis was to lose and go home but I have somehow or other managed to reach the finals.”
GWENNAN HARRIES:
Position : Originally from Cowbridge, now a physical education teacher in Cardiff.
Specialist skill : 56 international caps for Wales from 2006-12 (18 goals). Played for Cardiff, Bristol and Everton.
Gwennan said : “I am very excited about the last round and happy to be the only woman - so I’m doing this one for the girls!”
OWAIN TUDUR JONES:
Position : From Bangor, Gwynedd. Presenter and commentator on Sgorio.
Specialist skill : Seven International caps for Wales football team (2008-13). Played for Swansea, Norwich, Inverness CT and Hibernian.
Owain said : “I’ve heard that Gwennan is the favourite. Gary Slaymaker - what a performance in the first round. Ifan - no hoper - he hasn’t got a chance.”
