THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: BJP national executive member P K Krishnadas has taken over the indefinite hunger strike in front of secretariat here from Mahila Morcha state president V T Rama, who was shifted to hospital on the 10th day of her fasting on Friday.
The relay hunger strike by BJP leaders, in protest against government's stand in connection with entry of women between 10 and 50 years of age to Sabarimala and the police action and cases against devotees, has completed 47 days on Sunday.
BJP would call off the indefinite hunger strike on Sunday, coinciding with the congregation of Ayyappa devotees planned by Sabarimala Karma Samithi in Thiruvnanthapuram. By that time, Sabarimala temple would be closed after the year's pilgrimage season. Since the congregation of Ayyappa devotees is being organized as a beginning of the next stage of agitation by the karma samithi, BJP leadership is also of the opinion that BJP's agitations should also move on to next level. tnn
