MUMBAI: Vakola police recently arrested three college students, all aged 20, for allegedly kidnapping their friend, also 20 years old, outside his brother's workplace in Santacruz (East). They reportedly committed the offence as the victim had failed to return Rs 1.5 lakh they had lent him over a period of time.

Both the victim and the accused are Andheri residents. On January 15, the victim was at his brother's workplace when the three came in a car and asked him to accompany them. "They drove to JB Nagar and took him to the flat of one of the three accused, and did not allow him to leave. His brother's employer suspected something was amiss and lodged a complaint," said Vakola police. Based on the victim's cellphone location, police reached the flat within an hour of the complaint and rescued him. The three were released on bail.
