AGRA: Less than 24 hours after her body was found buried in a mustard field, Farrukhabad police nabbed the two accused who had allegedly raped and murdered the 11-year-old girl. A third accused in the case is absconding.
Identified as Radhey Shyam alias Radhey Yadav (23) of an area under Gwala Tol police jurisdiction of Kanpur district and Jitendra Singh (38), a resident of Amritpur police jurisdiction, Farrukhabad, the two were booked under IPC section 376 (rape), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and relevant sections of the POCSO act.
On Friday around 6:30 pm, the victim’s body was found buried some 500 metres from her home in Subhanpur village of Amritpur police jurisdiction, close to the Shahjahanpur-Farrukhabad district border. The victim had left home around 10:30 am, looking her for her father, who was irrigating a farm field some 800 metres from the village.
Speaking to TOI, superintendent of police of Farrukhabad, Santosh Kumar Mishra said, “Three men were involved in the gruesome crime. We have arrested two and the last accused who is absconding will be arrested soon.”
He added, “One of the accused, Radhey Shyam, is a history-sheeter. He was named in a case of rape and one of murder. After securing a bail, he had left Unnao jail and come in contact of Jitendra, who helped him hide from police. On Friday afternoon, the accused dragged the girl to a mustard field and raped her, before strangulating her. They also attempted to bury her body in the field.”
The SP also said that police was collecting DNA samples and other forensic evidence to build a strong case against the accused. “We want to ensure capital punishment for such heinous crime.” The victim’s family cremated her on Saturday.
