Simple ways to have a green corner in your home

Having plants in your home is the easiest way to create a calm and a soothing ambience. Not only does it add an aesthetic value, but keeping certain plants in your home is beneficial for your health as well. However, if you feel that you are not blessed with a green thumb, or have very little space, then these simple ways can help you maintain a green corner in your home with very little effort…

Choose a space for your garden
The first step in creating a green corner in your home is to identify the space. Picture where and how you want your plants to be placed and then accordingly buy the pots and plants.

Let vertical gardens be the answer to space crunch
If you do not have a lot of space, opt for a vertical garden. Vertical gardens are the best, especially if you live in an apartment complex. You can either grow floral plants or herbs or have a mix of both in your vertical garden. If you are more of a DIY person, you can put an old book shelf or a rack to use and keep pots in a row.

Choose the right plants
If you are going to have pots on a wall mounted shelf, opt for plants that do not grow too tall. Cacti like succulents, plants in the Sansevieria family are the ideal choice. If you plan on having plants on desks/ tables, plants like money plant, bamboo, bonsai or Peace Lily are your best bet. These are low maintenance and look beautiful when kept next to stacked books. If you do not wish to have multiple pots, you can have one big pot in the corner of your living room.

Grown your own herbs
You can grow your own herbs and veggies by having small planters in your kitchen or in the balcony, but make sure that they are exposed to a little sunlight. Herbs like parsley, thyme, basil, coriander, mint and more are easy to grow. You can also grow tomato, lady’s finger, brinjal, lettuce, spinach and more. These are some plants that grow easily and don’t require a lot of maintenance.
