IIT-Madras faculty begin open course on Artificial Intelligence

CHENNAI: After IIT-Hyderabad became the first institute in India to announce starting of full-fledged B.Tech course in Artificial Intelligence (AI), IIT-Madras faculty have launched a start-up for students on AI at nominal cost.

The start-up named as ‘PadhAI’ will work with small scale enterprises and the industry to provide AI-driven apps, products and services.

Students from courses on PadhAI will be invited to a ‘summer garage,’ an AI residency program at IIT Madras Research Park.  The course is a hands-on course on ‘Deep Learning’ which is the most successful sub-field of AI.  

The start-up has been founded by Mitesh M Khapra and Pratyush Kumar,  Assistant Professors in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT-Madras, and incubated by IIT-M  Incubation Cell.  The course is open to all students, faculty, and professionals with a basic background in mathematics and Python. The fee for students and faculty is `1,000 and for working professionals, `5,000, a release said.
